Leaf Storm Press to publish a new novel by Stanley Crawford, the renowned author of A Garlic Testament and Mayordomo

Santa Fe, NM– July 15, 2016.  Leaf Storm Press announced today that it will publish Village, a new novel by Stanley Crawford, in Spring 2017. Crawford is the author of two acclaimed memoirs: A Garlic Testament: Seasons on a Small New Mexico Farm and Mayordomo: Chronicle of an Acequia in Northern New Mexico; plus seven novels, including Gascoyne, Petroleum Man, and Log of the S.S. The Mrs. Unguentine, a “cult novel,” which The New Yorker magazine called “a captivating short work almost beyond description.”

An interview with Crawford (“Wordsmith With a Plow”) along with an excerpt from Village appears in Land Water People Time, the Northern New Mexico cultural guide (page 54) included in today’s issues of the Taos News and the Santa Fe New Mexican.

About the Book:

Set in the early 1990s, Village explores a day in the life of the fictional Northern New Mexico village of San Marcos through the points of view of a dozen characters: an aging mayordomo, the owners of the village store, the postmaster and his Spanish teacher wife, a teenager, two Anglo couples, a state water office attorney, a spinster weaver, a junkyard owner, a village tough, and the son of a funeral home owner.  Besides the Hispanics and Anglos, the village itself, with its long history, is also a character, along with the timeless features, the fauna and flora, of the narrow mountain valley on the eastern slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Range.
